| | | GOLF TIP - NOVEMBER 2009
Here we are in October and looking for another golf tip to work on. Usually at this point we are trying to get our last few games of the season in before the weather turns cold. Well there are a few things that can be done at this time of year to prepare for cold weather golf.
Always make sure that you have your umbrella with you while playing, after all we are in the rainy season. The temperature of the rain is usually a little cooler at this time so you should also remember to pack at least a water resistant shell in your golf bag. You never know when you might need it.
Along with these items you could pack extra golf gloves and towels in your bag as well. You should always keep your grips dry too, so a nylon or plastic bag cover would be great as well.
Since we are in rainy season extra care of the golf course should be noted. If you ride a golf cart please ensure that you are using the cart paths whenever possible. Driving on the grass after a heavy rainfall can do serious damage to the golf course.
Finally as the days are getting shorter and many members are still able to come out to play in the late afternoon, to ensure that everyone will get their rounds in, let’s make an extra effort to play “Ready Golf”. That is, when you are ready to tee off and the group in front is out of range, the first player ready to hit should play. Also, when we are walking or driving to our golf ball, it would be very helpful to think about the shot on the way there and anticipate what golf club you may require. One of the keys to “Ready Golf” is walk and talk. Tell stories on your way to your golf ball, and focus on the shot when you get there.
Happy Golfing!
